Mirza Umair Khalid

Dr. Khalid is currently an academic cardiologist at BCM, balancing his time between clinical, educational/academic and research duties. He is board certified in five specialties and subspecialties, including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He also oversees the Quality Improvement longitudinal conferences series for the BCM Cardiology Fellowship. He has always actively pursued research, and has over sixty manuscripts in peer reviewed medical journals. Additionally, Dr. Khalid is a member of three National Committees at the American College of Cardiology: Early Career Council, NCDR CathPCI Registry, and PINNACLE Network.

Previously, Dr. Khalid served as Internal Medicine Faculty at Ben Taub General Hospital, a hospital afflicted with BCM, and as an Emergency Medicine physician, at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.

Outside of his work schedule, Dr. Khalid enjoys playing and watching both soccer and cricket. He also likes playing indoor board and card games. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his family.
